Hi everyone,
We have a new challenge over at AAA Cards – use Silver in your card this week. Stampendous are joining us again as kind sponsors and there is $20 for the winner up for grabs. We also have Deborah joining us as this week’s guest designer. She has created a super pretty, elegant card, so make sure you check out her blog and the rest of the gorgeous DT team’s creations for more inspiration.
My card this week was actually created wayyyyy back in October for this challenge, because I wanted to give it to my daughter Ruby for her first birthday.
I created a card from white woodgrain cardstock (by Ellen Hutson) and die cut it with the Simon Says Stamp Devonshire Butterfly die. I then also die cut a piece of silver foil cardstock (DCWV) with the same die. I then covered a piece of scrap cardstock with glue runner and adhered behind the butterfly ‘window’ on the woodgrain piece. I added the silver butterfly on top and then pieced in all the remaining pieces of woodgrain to create an inlaid die cut look.
I wanted to create a simple card without stamping or words (as she’s only 1 she can’t read!) so I added a pretty floral 1 by Thickers on the middle for contrast and called it done.
I do hope you’ll join us this week at AAA, we can’t wait to see what you create!!!

What a beautiful card for a beautiful little girl. I hadn't spotted the number 'one' when I first saw this but WOW! Unique, CAS, elegance and completely stunning. Hope Ruby loved it as much as me. Have a wonderful Christmas time. Hugs Sarah x
I bet Ruby loved this! What a gorgeous and subtle background and the this really allows the flowers on the number to shine x
I bet Ruby treasures this beauty! It's fabulous with the subtle texture, the pretty butterfly and lovely number 1! Beautiful work. Thanks so much for having me as GD. Hugs, Deborah xx
Ooooo, so very sweet and pretty, Jenny. What a lovely and special 1rst birthday card for Ruby. 🙂 <3 That die is gorgeous and I LOVE that cute "1".
This is gorgeous, and Ruby will treasure it and all the cards you make for her as the years go by. The elegant silver butterfly contrasts so beautifully with the wood grain base, and that colorful little "1" is just the perfect finish.
Such a sweet and precious card for your daughter! I love the silver butterfly and the pop of colour with the number one.
Such a clever and unique idea to use a number for the butterfly's body, absolutely stunning!
How incredibly special – I wondered what the 1 in the middle was about. That was a wonderful idea. What a keeper! I love the minimal use of silver too.
