It’s new release time from Gina K Designs woop woop! The ever wonderful Hannah Drapinski designed a new stamp set for this release featuring violets called Peaceful Violets, and I’m in love. I was lucky enough to get a chance to color it up before release to share with you all.

This set features lots of loose violets as well as a large plant, and I decided to let that take center stage on this card today. I started with some no-line watercoloring and I recently got a set of Karin Brushmarkers and decided to try them out.

I stamped the image in Gina K Designs Warm Glow Amalgam ink onto Arches Cold Press watercolor cardstock, leaving it in my MISTI. I used three colors of Karin Brushmarkers for the main flowers. I actually colored my violets like pansies (my mum’s favorite). I just added some color into the main shadow areas and pulled it out with a wet brush.I added some purple and some yellow, and then on the yellow petals (prior to the paper drying) I went in with some deep yellowy-orange strokes, and let it wick out a little.

I made sure to work on petals that weren’t touching each other. I then repeated this with the leaves, adding some light green in the darker corners (and under folds), and the veins, and then pulling it out. After it dried, I reinked the image in Vintage Photo Distress ink and wiped the ink off the leaves, then restamped. I pulled out the outline ink a little with a damp paintbrush, keeping the outline but blending it just slightly. I then finished with some detail brown strokes with a Karin marker in the centres, and added some dark into the center itself.

I die cut out the image with the coordinating die and then splattered it with a liberal splattering of white paint with a wet paintbrush.

To finish my card I kept it pretty simple. I used the main scalloped panel from the Die Master Layouts 4 die set, and die cut it three times, layered them up and adhered to a white notecard. I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in black ink and then finally, mounted the image on top with foam squares.

Enjoy the new release party!
