Hi Everyone!
I’ve been hot foiling! It’s a new month, and Spellbinders Kit Clubs have been revealed! The Glimmer Hot Foil plates this months are really innovative. You can combine them to create beautiful oval frames with different looks – there are two part ovals with a sentiment weaved into the frame itself, and then three with different images – berries/fruit, leaves, and flowers. They all mix and match together for different looks. There’s also a bold sentiment with coordinating die you can pop in the middle – exactly what I did for my project today.
My card features some ink blending over the Spellbinders FSJ Stained Glass Stencil leaving just the centre blank. To get it the right. size (broadly), I overlaid the plates on the stencil to judge where to blend to. I’m using FSJ Whip Cream trimmed to 4.25″ x 5.5″. I used two different shades of green ink to get this mottled look.
I then lined up the two plates to form the oval, removed one and added the foil underneath adhering with washi like a hinge. I’m using the Copper Glimmer Hot Foil which I thought paired well with the green ink. When I had foiled one, I added back in the second plate and foiled again. Doesn’t it look gorgeous? I also foiled the main sentiment onto some green cardstock using the same foil, then die cut it.
I colored in the leaves with brush markers. As the foil resists water based mediums, it still shows through clearly – I also added some gold shimmer with a shimmer pen too. I adhered the die cut sentiment to the centre with foam squares, and added a few Sparkle Drops to finish.
The Copper Glimmer Foil really looks like an engraving don’t you think!?
