Hi Everyone!

The new Altenew Paint-A-Flower is here and it’s a BEEEUUTTTYY! This month the set features Tulips, but they’re not alone – they’re part of a pretty bouquet of florals and foliage, absolutely perfect for coloring in. Today’s post is part of a blog hop, and comes with a giveaway – stay tuned for details! If you are just joining this hop here, you can start at the beginning over on the Altenew blog. Altenew is also releasing gorgeous Calla Lily Gel Pens, Stamp Conditioning Erasers and Retractable Erasers – I’ll give you a closer look at those too – needless to say, you’re going to love them!

I just love the Paint-A-Flowers – I like to grab a cuppa and paint on a clipboard in front of a new movie on the sofa (except when splattering paint, I have to pop back in the craft room). I really love when they land in my mailbox! (If anyone’s interested, I watched the show ‘Undone’ while painting this).

Paint-A-Flower is part of a monthly subscription plan. When signed up, you are guaranteed a spot on Altenew’s monthly Paint-A-Flower releases and will receive a set each month – at a specially discounted price! ($15.99 →$12.99)

As there is a lot of open space on this image I decided to heat emboss it before watercoloring it. I used Altenew Platinum Crisp embossing powder to heat emboss the image onto hot press watercolor cardstock. At the same time, I heat embossed the multi-part sentiment down in the corner.

I used the Altenew 36 Pan watercolor set to paint the image, dropping in color and then letting it dry, then building up the color, in a sketchy blotchy way. I added lots of paint flicks when done, using colors I’d painted with, as well as white for a fun almost ‘bleached’ effect. When dry I mounted it onto a white notecard.

For my second card, I used Altenew Warm Sunshine cardstock on which to stamp the Tulips. I stamped them twice in Permanent Black and colored them with Artist Markers. I also used touches of white gel pen for the daisies and little white flowers, then fussy cut it out leaving a quarter inch border.

I grabbed another panel of white cardstock and placed it in the Ornamental Feature 3D embossing folder, lining it up with yellow panel over the top first to make sure I the embossing in the right place, then dry embossed. I stamped the sentiment from the set at the bottom in Obsidian Black ink, and mounted the yellow panel over the top with foam tape.

To finish, I added a few clear Confetti sequins, yellow Nuvo Drops in the centre of the daisies, and some Glossy Accents on the blueberries.

I also have a closer look at the two new craft tools you need for your stash. The first one is the Stamp Conditioning Eraser. This is somewhat like a super bendy eraser, and you simply rub it over your stamp and it conditions it, allowing it to stamp without the blotches you sometimes get on newer stamps or those with very large surface areas. See below! I conditioned, inked up once and stamped and this is the great impression I got. I have one of these on my craft desk constantly now. These come in a pack of three.

The second essential must have for the craft desk is the Retractable Eraser. It’s great for erasing pencil (and I also use it to remove over-foiling from hot foiling). It also has refills available when you need them. I use pencil to ensure I get clear aligned images on occasion and mark the centres of cards too.

Lastly, let me introduce the Calla Lily Gel Pens. These are black ink, and a set of three. They’re stunning and great for writing or using in your photography honestly! A very unique gift for the holidays too for the artsy people in you life.
