Hi Everyone – I hope you’re all safe and well. Today I’m excited to show you the results of a collaboration with my friend Justine Hovey to bring you a technique -laden video featuring 10 card making techniques I love (but often forget about!). Justine and I each cover 5 techniques in our videos which are live on YouTube now so be sure to check them out. You can find Justine’s channel here, be sure to head on over, subscribe if you don’t already, and check out her vid!

This is also my 100th video!! So, if you do want to check out my channel, you’ll see LOTS of other fun crafting videos to check out. Most are technique focused.

You can check out my video here:

This video focuses on fun card making techniques we’ve used maybe a long time ago and really enjoyed the process or the results, but for one reason or another, don’t go back to. Well, let’s bring them back!

There are a lot of images in this post – they’re all included in the video too if you have trouble loading!

Faux Watercolor

Stamping with ink spritzed with water onto watercolor cardstock for a watercolor look without too much effort!
Featuring Altenew Vase Fillers and Altenew Crisp Dye inks.

Background Masking

Use co-ordinating dies with masking paper to mask off an image multiple times, add ink blending, remove the mask and stamp the image.
Featuring Hero Arts Color Layering Moth and Distress Oxides.

Shadow Stamping

Use white pigment ink to stamp an image onto darker cardstock, then re-stamp slightly off the original, with a dye ink in a bright color. Works great for layering stamps!
Features Altenew Dot Botanicals, Altenew Crisp Dye inks, and Simon Says Stamp white pigment ink.
You can use this technique on any color of cardstock, particularly darker cardstock as the white ink gives you a neutral base. I love kraft for this technique.

Water Stamping

Create a Distress Oxide (or Distress Ink) background and stamp over the top with a stamp spritzed with water, then lift off and dab with a paper towel to remove the excess.
Featuring Hero Arts Bug Collection background and Swallotail dies.
Same technique, stamping with the left over ink onto white cardstock, then die cutting the original watercolor stamping to create an eclipse look.
Features Altenew Exotic Garden, Mega Thanks and Mega Hello stamp sets, and Mega Hello die.

Stamp Kissing

Ink up a detailed stamp with a dark ink, and a solid stamp with a light ink, ‘kiss’ them together and then stamp.
Features Simon Says Stamp Ornate Background, Catherine Pooler Designs Leave Me In Paradise, and Altenew Fancy Hello die and inks.

All of the supplies I used are below, I hope you enjoy both videos, and have time to re-discover these techniques while you’re at home. If you do get a chance to play and post on social media, be sure to tag me so I can see!
