Hi there and happy new year to all of you! I’ve been quiet of late – I recently started a new job after 12 years in my last one. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind and I have had less time for posting on my blog. It was nice to get some time this weekend to chill out!
My card today was created for the WOW! Embossing Challenge over on the WOW! Embossing Fans facebook page. The theme in January is Love/Valentine’s Day/Anniversaries/Weddings – link up your card and you could win $15 to spend with WOW!
I wanted to do some watercoloring with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers today, so I grabbed the GORGEOUS Beautiful Blooms stamp set from The Gray Muse. I stamped it in WOW! Embossing ink just off the edge of an A2 panel of cold press watercolor cardstock (I’m using Bee Paper) and then heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Pastel Pink embossing powder. Something a bit different than the usual white or silver/gold, and perfect for the theme!
I then colored in the image. While I’ve really loved blending the Zigs on the cardstock without water recently, this time I did use a waterbrush. I drew a thin line of color next to where I wanted the darkest contrast on a petal or leaf, and then pulled it out with the waterbrush. I worked on only a small area at at time to make sure the color was blendable still. I also went around the edge of the image with a pale gray Zig and blended it out to add some depth and shadow, then added a few gray spatters for good measure.
My sentiment is the Hugs die by Gina K. I swiped some WOW! Embossing ink onto a scrap of white cardstock, then sprinkled WOW! Pink Sherbert embossing powder over the top. This is a pretty pink, similar to the Opaque Pastel Pink, but has pale mint and gold glitter in it – super pretty. I then die cut the cardstock so that the ‘hugs’ was only partially embossed, then popped it up on foam tape to my watercolor panel.
The sub-sentiment is from the Taylored Expressions Sentiment Strips Background stamp and die set. I love how you can stamp and die cut these all in one go. I actually heat embossed half the strips with WOW! Metallic Rich Pale Gold, and half with WOW! Metallic Platinum so I would have lots to choose from in my stash! I chose the Anniversary sentiment for this card and overlaid it on the Hugs with a foam strip.
As a finishing touch I scattered a few pink sequins, and added some Nuvo Jewel Drops in Rosewater to the flower centres and a couple on the card itself.
