It’s December! I don’t know about you but this year felt like it went super fast! Today I’m thrilled to be joining Michelle Lupton with her annual Challenge Me a Christmas Card. I challenged Michelle to create a ‘geometric’ Christmas card, and I’ve done the same. You can go check out Michelle’s creation over on her blog.

I created a video showing you how I created this card – it’s super easy and I’ve based it on some tips I’ve seen on Kristina Werner’s Holiday Series. I’m using black watercolor cardstock to paint on. This stuff is FAB and so amazing for metallic watercolors. I’ve had the Paul Rubens 24 Glitter palette for a while and never used it so I thought this would be the perfect time!

To create my card, I trimmed down the watercolor cardstock to A2 (be careful if you’re using masking tape, it seemed to tear very easily), and then using a large round brush, started creating a metallic striped wash horizontally, going up in color as they appear in the tin, from dark grey-silver, to purple and pink, bottom to top. I dried it then repeated to build up the color. I did this once more until I was happy with the intensity of the color.

When dry, I tore the bottom off the watercolor cardstock, and then dry embossed it using a geometric WRMK Next Level embossing folder. I then mounted the entire piece using craft foam onto a black card base.

For my sentiment, I die cut the Joyful die by Simon Says Stamp from gold mirror cardstock and then popped it onto the centre of the card using foam tape. I also was sure to add in the centre of the O.

As a finishing touch to make it a little more christmassy, I added a few snowflake sequins. Thanks to Michelle for having me again this year – always a pleasure, merry christmas and enjoy your challenge!
