Hi Everyone!
I have some exciting news – I’m joining the WOW! Embossing Design Team for 2019 – wooooo! As followers of my cards will know, I love heat embossing, and so joining WOW! is a dream come true. I’m very honoured to be joining such a talented bunch, and so now commences #heatembossingall thethings!!!
WOW! runs a monthly challenge and in January it is Aqua / Teals / Turquoise so I’ve created my first card as a DT member for this challenge.
To create my card I used the Erin Lee Creative Wreath Stencil with Therm-o-Web Decofoil Transfer Gel on sturdy white cardstock and left it to dry until clear. This is when it’s read for foiling. I then ran it through my Minc machine with WOW! Fab Foil (yes they make foil too!!) in Dark Blue.
I then die cut the Simon Says Stamp Mini Flowers and Leaves from white cardstock and proceeded to heat emboss all of the blooms. I did this by first dabbing each flower on the WOW! Embossing Ink pad and then sprinkling Opaque Primary Frozen embossing powder over the top. I heat embossed these tiny diecuts by using a craft pic inserted through the hole in the centre to hold it down on my craft mat, without disturbing the powder (or blowing away the die cut). I adhered each flower onto the wreath with foam tape.
I then added the leaves (unembossed) with liquid glue. To cover up the foam tape behind the flowers, I added a Studio Katia Iridescent Jewel into the centre of each, and scattered a few around the wreath itself.
My sentiment is the Welcome from Altenew’s Script Words 3 die set. I die cut it 5 times from white cardstock and adhered all but one together and adhered to the centre of the wreath with liquid glue. On the last one I dabbed it onto the WOW! ink pad and coated it in Opaque Frozen embossing powder. I then repeated this once more to build up the layer of EP. I then took the ink pad and pushed it into the diecut on the lower half only and heat embossed with WOW! Metallic Platinum Sparkle EP. To get a blended look, heat it a little longer than normal and the Platinum will melt into the Frozen EP (to avoid a harsh line).
I mounted the entire panel onto a white card base. For the sentiment, I die cut a strip using the SSS Sentiment Labels from Catherine Pooler Designs Midnight cardstock. The sentiment is from the Pinkfresh Studios Birds and Flowers stamp set, stamped in WOW! embossing ink and heat embossed with WOW! Opaque Bright White EP. I then popped it up on foam tape and called it done!
I am so looking forward to showing you more tips, techniques and projects created using WOW! embossing powder – I’ll be sharing my first video for the WOW! Embossing YouTube channel towards the end of the month too, so be sure to go subscribe to their channel and click the bell to be notified!
