Hi Everyone!

Today I have a video showing seven cards that were created using pretty much just the contents of the December 2018 Spellbinders Card Kit.  I love the Spellbinders Card Kits – they’re amazing value, so beautifully collated and a joy to open every month.  I highly recommend the Kit & Caboodle which also includes the Small and Large dies of the month to get the most bang for your buck.

As I’m late in creating with this set (i.e. it is winter themed but I’m posting this after Christmas), I decided to try and create cards that are suitable for other times of year.  Hopefully I pulled it off!  You can view my video over on my YouTube or here:

Card 1 – Die Cut Wreath

My first card is probably my favorite – I used the dies from the kit and cut all of the foliage and leaves from the pale blue grey cardstock, three pears from the cream, three flowers from the darker blue and flower centres/berries from the white.

I arranged them in a wreath shape with liquid adhesive and foam squares on a panel of the white cardstock which I had die cut with a SSS Stitched Rectangle die.  I also edged the pears with Distress Ink in Ripe Persimmon for a little dimension.

I added a few gold spatters and popped the panel onto one of the notecards and adhered a ‘Let’s Celebrate’ die cut from the kit on foam tape in the centre.  To finish I embellished with Nuvo Morning Dew Drops on the flower centres and berries.

Card 2 – Stamped Mason Jar

My second card uses the stamp set in the kit to create a little scene jar. I stamped the jar stamp in Catherine Pooler Black Jack ink on CPD Premium White cardstock.  I stamped the snow in Stone Blue and heat embossed it in WOW! Wanderlust which is clear and adds a little sparkle.  I stamped the little house in Sugared Lavender, and the tree in Seafoam.  I trimmed out the jar, then stamped the snow fall in Sparkling Snow (opaque white with sparkle) a few times.  I popped one of the enamel stars from the kit above the scene and added some twine with a bow.

For my notecard I added some strips of patterned paper and strip of the beautiful glitter washi across the top then adhered the scene with foam tape.  Finally I adhered the ‘Best’ die cut from the kit with foam tape and a ‘wishes’ from the Spellbinders Happy Sentiments stampset in WOW! Bright White EP on a strip of black and popped it under the ‘Best’.

Card 3 – Layering Die Cuts

My third card layers several die cuts.  I first trimmed a piece of the patterned paper from the kit to 4 x 5.25″ and added a strip of washi tape along the bottom, then adhered to a notecard.  I added one of the tags from the kit with foam tape at an angle, with some of the twine (which I coated with adhesive to ensure it stayed in place).  I then overlaid the stag diecut over the top with foam tape.

I die cut the Warm and Wishes dies from the brown cardstock and metallic cardstock and layered them on top of each other to create a metallic shadow and adhered with liquid adhesive.  I finally added a few of the kit enamel dots to add a pop of colour.

Card 4 – Using Christmas Images in a Different Way

My next card uses some of the more Christmasy images in a different way to ‘de-Christmas’ them!  I die cut the light blue cardstock with a smaller stitched rectangle die and popped it up on a notecard with craft foam.  I then adhered the Christmas Lights strip across the panel at an angle.

I die cut the tiny Xmas tree die from the pink and gold tag four times and ‘strung’ them at angles to look like lights or decorations hanging from light strip. Finally, I added a white heat embossed sentiment strip from the Happy Sentiments and a few enamel dots to finish – maybe one for a winter anniversary?!

Card 5 – Washi Background

My next card uses both of the washi tapes included in the kit – they’re beautiful colors and I wanted to incorporate them into a background.  I have tonnes of washi and don’t use it enough – well here’s my chance!  I took an A2 panel of the cream cardstock from the kit and added alternating strips of the washi at an angle across the lower half of the panel.  I folded it around the back and then adhered the panel to a note card.  I die cut the bear from the brown cardstock – I think it’s a polar bear given the wintery feel of the kit, but I’m in North East USA and to me I think it’s a Brown Bear!  I also blended some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink over the top to emphasise the embossed fur on the image.

I adhered the nose (cut from black) and the leg, and popped him on foam tape over the top of the washi panel.  The scarf was die cut from the striped patterned paper, also edged with Gathered Twigs and adhered to the bear.   The sentiment (from Happy Sentiments) was stamped in black ink directly onto the card, and I adhered the Wishes die cut from the kit.  To finish, I added Nuvo Vintage Drops in Early Grey.

Card 6 – Keep it Simple

This card is probably the easiest to make and probably my other favorite.  I love all the texture from the patterns and the wood look.  I trimmed down a panel of the plaid paper to 4 x 5.25″ and adhered directly to a notecard.

I then popped up the wood-look deer and the sentiment from the kit on foam tape.  It was still lacking something and I decided to add the star (it reminded me of the big stars you often see on the side of old houses), and adhered the enamel star over the top.  And done!

Card 7 – Rustic Love

My final card makes use of the pretty glitter letters in the kit – there is only one of each letter, but they line up well to make a scripty font.  I wanted ‘Love You’ but with only one O I improvised to ‘Love u’!  I first adhered an A2 panel of the fab wood panel patterned paper directly to a notecard.  I then adhered three of the die cut snowflakes to the snowflake tag and trimmed off the excess.  I stacked it with foam tape to the star tag and tied a hemp bow at the top.  I popped the entire thing up onto the panel.

As i knew I was adding the glitter letters, I added some gold splatters first.  I also added another die cut snowflake which has a gold centre in the top corner and trimmed off the excess.  I then adhered the letters.   They are at different levels but actually do look continuous due to the scripty font. Finally I added some enamel dots from the kit that co-ordinate with the snow flake shades.

And that completes all the cards!  I had tonnnnnnes of kit contents left (and several that I had to scrap after I just wasn’t happy with the project), and of course the stamp set and dies.   I’ll be back again soon featuring more cards with kits, I hope you find them inspiring!
