Hi everyone!!
As promised, I’m here to give you my news and also a little something different I made with my crafting supplies. Apologies in advance for the longer post than normal – it’s big news :D.
First things first, for those of you who haven’t already seen on Instagram or Facebook, our beautiful baby girl was born at 7.13am on October 20th 2015, weighing 7lbs 13 oz. Her name is Ruby Ember Lee Colacicco – Ruby after her Great Grandma Colacicco and Lee after my mum who sadly died last October (almost a year to the day). She’s doing great and I can’t stop staring at her – how did we create something so cute and perfect as her!!
Obviously I have taken a million photos but I’ll restrain myself to just one so you can meet her. She has my eyelashes 😀
One of my good friends had a baby a couple of months ago and I noticed on her facebook some cool shots with ‘milestone cards’ – saying ‘first week’ and ‘my first outing’ and so on. At first I was going to buy some then realised I could use my supplies to make the cards myself. So here’s the first two:
1 Week Old Today:
I used the Simon Says Stamp November card kit and autumnal ink shades (SSS Khaki, Memento Rich Cocoa and Hero Arts Just Rust, Butter Bar, Cup O Joe and Pumpkin Pie) to stamp the leaves and hearts around the edge of a piece of cardstock cut with the largest SSS Stitched Rectangles die.
The letters were diecut from my last bit of carrot shimmer cardstock from the SSS August card kit using the Memory Box Typewriter Lower dies and the 1 was taken from a Thickers set.
I used Heidi Swapp gold color shine spray to splatter lightly on the card, and finished with some gold sequins (from Michaels in my stash) and from Pretty Pink Posh (6mm flat Lemon Drop, 4mm cup tangerine, 4mm cup sand and I think 4mm Marigold). I stamped the date using a date stamp.
And here’s Ruby to model it:
First Halloween:
I used the same SSS Stitched Rectangles die to cut some foiled cobweb paper (from a Michael’s Recollections Halloween 6×6 pad) and backed it onto Neenah Solar White with tape runner.
I then used my Silhouette Portrait to cut out Halloween shapes from purple, orange and black card stock (search on ‘Halloween’ in the Silhouette library for similar shapes). I adhered the black frame with tape runner and the letters using Zig’s two way glue pen and my tweezers.
I coated the bats in Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen before adhering them with foam squares, and then coated them generously in glossy accents.
Finally, I finished with a date stamp and some more sequins from Pretty Pink Posh (4mm Tangerine) and old orange metallic Michael’s sequins from my stash.
And here’s Ruby again:
I really love these cards. Even better, I can scrapbook these pics with the cards themselves to keep forever. I’ll need to build up a stash of ‘firsts’ to have on hand when I can.
Hope you enjoyed!! I’ll be back again soon.
Jenny x
