Hi Everyone!

Wow what a fabulous response we had on the AAA Cards Birthday Extravaganza blog hop!  And thank you so much for your wonderful comments on my card.  I love, love, loved reading them 😀  We’ll be announcing the prize winners on the main AAA blog soon.

As today is Sunday, it is time for the new challenge in the meantime.  This week the challenge is to design a male card. Here’s my take:

I used some of the colors from the picture inspiration including the yellows, oranges and chrome logo.  I’m on a bit of a colored embossing paste kick at the moment so I used the Mini Microbial stencil from the Crafter’s Workshop with white Dreamweaver embossing paste, colored with Papertrey Ink inks in Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise and Canyon Clay (working centre to edges).  I thought these matched the crazy summer sky in the picture pretty well.

The card stock was taken from my scraps (I think its Bazzill, not too sure) and die cut using the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Squares (the largest).  As I wanted the background to be the focal point for the card, I didn’t want to cover it too much with anything else.  I therefore die cut vellum using the Simon Says Stamp Apothecary Labels and embossed the brilliant matching sentiment (anyone remember Spinal Tap??) which I thought would be perfect for a guy card, in Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder.
The whole thing was popped up on foam tape onto Papertrey Ink card stock in Harvest Gold to co-ordinate with the ink in the centre.
I’m also entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge, which this week is ‘stencils’ showcasing Crafter’s Workshop 🙂
That’s it for today.  I’ll be back soon with another card!

  1. Love the colours for the embossing paste – it really reminds me of a big glass of ale (not sure if that is what you were going for or whether I have just been drinking too much beer lately!). The sentiment is great – perfect fro a masculine card! Jill

  2. Loving that background with all its shiny metallic looking spots. Great sentiment too, if only it were possible to be an eleven out of ten!

  3. Love that you had the background in the inspiration image in mind as you created your wonderful background for this card. Beautiful job on that. Love the sentiment. All make a wonderful composition. Great masculine card!
