Time Out Challenge | Adding Dimension to Stamped Images

Hi Everyone!

It’s time for another Time Out Challenge – we are focusing on an inspirational quote today “With Freedom, Flowers and the Moon, who could not be happy?” (Oscar Wilde). There is $25 up for grabs from our sponsor, the awesome Catherine Pooler for the winner.

On my card today I’m going to show you how to add a pop of dimension to what what otherwise be a flat image.

I just had to grab Amber’s World (by Catherine Pooler) for this quote. It has flowers on a globe, representing the world (not quite a moon but a similar feel). I stamped the globe in WOW! embossing ink onto some patterned paper from Michaels (the Recollections collection) that I had trimmed down to A2, and then heat embossed it with WOW! Metallic Silver embossing powder.

I re-stamped the globe again this time onto white cardstock, and heat embossed in silver again. I die cut out the floral globe part using a circle die that fit the shape (there is a co-ordinating die, but I wanted to just pop out the globe itself).

To add even more dimension, I ink blended on two different colors of Catherine Pooler ink in It’s a Boy and Flirty Fuchsia, to create a rounded look, and colored in the flowers with some clear Wink of Stella. The ink is water reactive so the flowers tone back a lot and really stand out.

For my sentiment, I used Midnight ink and my MISTI, and over-stamped the embossing using a sentiment from the stamp set. I repeated this a couple more times to get a good clear impression, and then used a Micron black pen just to go over the parts that didn’t fully stamp black (embossing powder is a great resister of most mediums!)

I then popped it up on foam tape on top of my patterned paper globe.

For a finishing touch, I stamped one of the flowers in the set directly over the bottom of the globe in Midnight ink and then stamped again on a scrap of white cardstock. I colored it with It’s a Boy and Flirty Fuchsia, trimmed it out, and then popped it up on foam tape to add a little dimension to the base of the globe.

As a finishing touch I added some small black dots using my Micron, and then popped it all onto a white notecard.
